About Chapter:
Computer society of India(CSI) was established in 1965 with a view to increase information and technology awareness among Indian society, and to make forum to exchange and share the IT-related issues. CSI, Visakhapatnam chapter is having more than Two decade long history. CSI, Visakhapatnam Chapter is big chapter in India. It has more than 500 members strength from various organizations in Vizag. All the top executives of the Industry and academia are life members of CSI. It has conducted many IT-awareness programmes, regional level seminars and national conferences like first student convention, SRC-93,99, BIG-97, 2003, BIT-2004, AIME-2005, SRC-2010 and International conference esecurity-2006. Number of delegates are attended for these conferences from various organizations in and around India. Exhibitions highlighting the latest state-of-the-art IT equipment & IT-enabled services are also conducted during these conventions. Viskhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP), Oil Refinery(HPCL), Fertilizer Industry(Coromandal), Pressure Vessels Industry(BHPV), Non-Ferrous Metals(HZL), Polymers(LG Polymers) and Dredging(DCI), Power plant (NTPC), Research and Testing Institutions (NIO,NSDRC, NSTL etc. Are the members in our society. It has renowned Andhra University(AU) and good number of professional and other educational Institutions. Besides Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam is one more Hi-Tech city in Andhra Pradesh. Chapter has its own premises in Vizag steel. This chapter got BEST CHAPTER AWARD for the year 2006. Under this chapter currently 22 Student branches are working. We are conducting many more programmes to students also. From this academic year onwards chapter has constituted CSI award for Meritorious students (6 Nos) in IT & CSE branches among all Engineering colleges affiliated under regional Universities of Andhra University, Jaharlal Nehru Technologycal University(JNTU) and GITAM University. And also to promote IT awareness to rural areas. Chapter initiated for IT training to School and college children to the rural areas.

Apart from Industry and Institutions, Visakhapatnam is blessed with sprawling golden beaches, splendid monuments and ancient temples that have significant cultural and tourist value.
