My contribution to the IT industry:I have been in the IT industry for the last four decades starting my career as Systems Engineer trainee with IBM in India in 1970. Later, I joined the Mukand Group and have grown with them till date. Like most of the veterans of the IT industry in India, I started my career as a Programmer on IBM 1401 and have attained the position of the CIO. I have worked on the IBM’s Unit Record Systems and IBM 1401, various mainframes - IBM 370, IBM 4300 series, and IBM S/390 and scientific systems like CDC 3600 and IBM 1620, Object oriented IBM AS/400 and also on the Windows platform. However, my real love and expertise is on the IBM mainframes.
During my career, I got ample opportunities to design, develop and implement various business applications for the steel plant, engineering and infrastructure businesses. I have completely integrated process control systems of L1+L2 level with ERP and techno-commercial applications of L3+L4 level in a Steel Plant.
I was fortunate enough to get recognized as an entrepreneur within our company and was given an opportunity to build IT business for the Company. In 1999, I established two entities 1) Mukand Infotech Ltd. and 2) MIEL e-Security Pvt. Ltd.
The first company was an IT company with software development and education on the IBM platforms. It was also an IBM Authorised Training Centre for education on IBM mainframes, AS/400, e-Business and ACE curriculums of IBM. Our training centre was rated by IBM as one of the best in APAC region with the state-of-the-art infrastructure and world class quality of training. We also conducted training on JDEdwards ERP, MAGIC Rapid Application Development Tool and did a lot of good work, training more than 1000 individuals for Y2K, mainframes, ERP. We were fortunate enough to have Dr. F C Kohli on our Board whose invaluable guidance helped us in achieving such results.
The second company MIEL was established in the information security vertical in 1999 and the company has grown to be the largest IS company in India. My contribution to our country in the information security vertical is given in the next paragraphs.

My contribution to the IT education in India

:I have been successful in raising the bar to a very high level in IT education in our country through both the Education Centres - Mukand Infotech and MIEL Academy. I am proud to claim that all the Indian individuals who have passed out of my training centres have reached very high posts in their companies across the Globe.

My contribution to Information Security in India

:

As the one of the Founder Promoters and on behalf of the Mukand Group, it was my pioneering effort to initiate and establish an Information Security(IS) Consulting company MIEL e-Security Pvt. Ltd., in 1998 with a clear vision to create a safe and secure cyber infrastructure to support B2B and B2C business opportunities for India, post Y2K. In the year 1998 the Indian IT industry was extremely busy sorting out the Y2K problems across the globe, and B2B and B2C over the worldwide web were just buzzwords. The IT industry and the Government of India wanted India to be a leader in the B2B arena without realizing that the infrastructure required for these businesses was inadequate and dismal till 1998. Information Security was completely a niche area in those days and we had to evangelize the need for information security in the country. I created the awareness by giving more than 600 presentations across the country to the Ministry of IT, IMC, CII, CSI Chapters, Banks, Financial Institutions, IT and ITES companies, Students, Police Departments, IDRBT, etc. The identified technology was PKI and we created awareness about digital certificates, Root Certification Authority, Commercial Certification Authority, methodologies to generate trust between two transacting parties over the Internet and to protect the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information.
At that time, I was the Chairman of Mumbai Chapter and along with Mr. Vijay Mukhi, NASSCOM and Mumbai Police, I ensured that the Mumbai Chapter actively participated in Cyber Safety Weeks for almost three consecutive years in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, conducting various Cyber Safety related activities and educating people at large through lectures, demos, contests, exhibitions etc. I used to arrange various demos and contests on hacking for students in various colleges through MIEL employees and I was giving lectures to audiences on Cyber Crimes and Safety.
MIEL as a pioneering information security company has grown in the last 12 years and has carved out its rBeputation as one of the largest and the best Information security company totally focused on IS. MIEL has trained almost 10000+ professionals and over 1000 corporates in IS during this period. The professional certifications in Information Security were brought into India by MIEL to help Indians certify themselves in a cost effective manner. MIEL has tie-ups with ISC2, SANS, EC Council, DNV, PMI and many others. I am a certified ISO27001 Lead Auditor and a specialist in implementing Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)
MIEL has developed a one-year full-time post-graduate Program in information Security (PRISM) which is one of its kind in the world. It is designed based on global pedagogy standards and id delivered through MIEL Academy, Somaiya Institute of Management Studies (SIMSR) and International School of Corporate Management (ISCOM) at Pune. In the last 3 years, more than 100 graduates have been trained and successfully placed as Information S ecurity Professionals with reputed organizations across the world.  PRISM is accredited by CSI and we have an MoU to promote the program in the country. I also have to my credit, being the director of the team, for the development of an Indian Information Security product called “Helios” which is now a commercial product for Security Compliance for the end-point computers. The product was nominated as one of the most innovative product by NASSCOM.

       STATEMENT OF INTENT

As the Hon. Treasurer, I will do my best to ensure that the Society funds are mobilized for the value addition to the fixed assets of the Society and managed prudently. I will make sincere attempts towards cost reduction. I am aware that getting the audited chapter accounts on time is a problem so I will work towards designing a system so that the accounting and auditing can be streamlined.
To achieve the objectives I will devote adequate time in coordinating with the HQ, Chapters and the the Auditors.
I commit to attend most of the ExecCom meetings.
