SIG- Green IT
CSI is proud to announce formation of a new Special Interest Group (SIG) on Green IT for the period 2010-2012. This will be chaired by Dr Himanshu Misra of CMC Ltd.and will be under Division 1 (hardware) of CSI.
The objective of this SIG would be to increase awareness, promote knowledge sharing and, to foster interaction between academia, industry and government around the role of IT in addressing challenges associated with climate change.
The Green IT SIG will help drive awareness programs, offer venues for learning and information exchange and create forums/seminars for interacting with thought leaders and industry practitioners. This SIG will also be responsible for creating an annual publication with articles and review papers from world-renowned technocrats. Students and working professionals stand to gain from involvement in this SIG.
The Green SIG has plans to do the following in 2010 - 11
- Green IT Event
- Awareness programmes in companies to promote practice of, and share ideas about Climate Change.
- Workshops and Training programmes on Green IT, ICT Asset Optimization and Green Data Centre, which will lead to
Certifications in Green Computing disciplines. - CIO Round Table on Green IT & IT for Green, specially designed for CIOs and CTOs.
- Green SIG focused volume of the CSI Magazine & SIG portal.
