Mr. Jayant Krishna
Jayant Krishna is Principal Consultant and Head of the Lucknow global delivery operations of Tata Consultancy Services, Asia’s largest global software and IT services company with 2009-10 revenues of $ 6.3 billion and over 160,000 employees. He manages designated TCS delivery operations for clients in North America and Europe and the business in UP & Uttaranchal regions in India.
Till June 2010, he was the Regional Director, Life Sciences and Heathcare, Europe. As a part of his European responsibilities, Jayant handled National Health Service-UK / British Telecom Global Services-UK, Novartis Pharma AG-Switzerland, Novo Nordisk-Denmark, GlaxoSmithKline, UK, Roche, Switzerland and other accounts. Till 2005, he was Regional Director in TCS’ UK & Ireland geography based in London and was responsible for TCS’ business in three key verticals. During this period, he was instrumental in establishing TCS’ relationship with several global clients including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, P&O Ferries, Maersk, DHL, Thomas Cook, Warner Bros, Sony and Avis Europe. Earlier, he had also worked as Regional Manager at London and TCS’ Global Relationship Manager for its P&O Nedlloyd account, which emerged as one of the company’s top 5 accounts worldwide during his tenure.
Jayant has rich experience in sales, software delivery operations, software engineering, project management spanning 25 years. He also has deep professional interest in corporate strategy and HR. Jayant is a Gold Medallist and has also been a British Chevening Scholar at the University of Leeds (UK). He was chosen by the British Council to be amongst the 12 best practicing managers after a nationwide search in 1997. He is the youngest-ever Fellow of the Computer Society of India and a Fellow of the All India Management Association as well. He is fond of sharing his industry experience with youngsters, an aspiration he fulfils as an Adjunct Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Occasionally, he also teaches at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow as a visiting faculty. Jayant has published papers in a few Indian and foreign journals.
Jayant is the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s UP State Council. He is also the Regional Vice President of Computer Society of India’s International Region. Till 2009 he was the President of Lucknow Management Association, All India Management Association’s affiliate in this part of the country, and the Chairman of Computer Society of India’s Lucknow Chapter. He is also on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad and on the Board of Studies of the UP Technical University. A recipient of the ‘UP Ratna’ award, he is also the Convener of NASSCOM’s ‘IT-BPO Destination Lucknow’ initiative. Jayant was also the recipient of prestigious WILL Women’s Choice Award 2009. Earlier, the National Youth Foundation Award and the Rotary Professional Excellent Award were also conferred upon him. Jayant is also on the AIMA’s National Council. He lives in Lucknow with his wife Bina and son Ujjwal. He attributes his positive attitude and energy to his late parents, mother Veena and father Arun, who were his mentors. During his leisure time, he writes, propels heritage rejuvenation projects, plays golf and undertakes socially relevant work like spreading functional literacy through computers.
