Welcome to Gwalior Chapter


The ancient capital of Gwalior is steeped in the splendor of its past A multitude of reigning dynasties, of the great Rajput clans of the Pratiharas, Kachwahas  and Tomars have left indelible etchings of their rule in this city of palaces, temples and monuments. The magnificent mementoes of a glorious past have been preserved with care, giving Gwalior a unique and timeless appeal. Standing  on a steep mass of sand stone, Gwalior Fort  dominates the city and is its most magnificent monument. It has been the scene of momentous events imprisonments, battles and jauhars. A steep road winds upward to the fort, flanked by statue of Jain Tirthankaras, carved into the rock face. The magnificent outer walls of the fort still stand, two miles in length and 35 ft high, bearing witness to its reputation for being one of the most invincible fort of  India. This imposing structure inspired emperor Babar to describe it as "the pearl amongst the fortress of Hind". Teli ka Mandir, Sahastra Bahu Temple, Gurudwara, Gujri Mahal, Suraj Kund and Karn mahal are other historical places of ancient times at Fort. Beside this Tansen Tomb, Mohd. Gauss Makbara, Sun Temple, Sarod Ghar, Scindia Palace Musiam , Chhatris and Rani Jhansi Temple are other attraction of the city.

IT here has picked up with several initiatives in few years making the District an IT Destination in the times to come as IT park is being setup by GoI. The Computer Society of India Gwalior Chapter is continuously making the efforts to boost up the Computer and Communication based activities in the Gwalior region since last 11 years. In this regard, CSI Gwalior chapter is organizing different programmes like Computer Quiz and IT based Symposia, Seminar and Conferences on new emerging fields.

CSI Gwalior chapter bagged BEST CHAPTER AWARD in the ‘C’ Category  in the 44th Annual Convention of the CSI held in association with  the 25th Annual  Convention of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) at Chennai Trade Center, Chennai during 10-12 September 2008.
