1st CSI Regional Student Convention, CSI Region-IV, Raipur

DIMAT organized the first CSI Regional Student Convention of CSI Region IV, Raipur. The function was inaugurated by Padmashree Prof. Dr. M.S. Sodha, Director (Research), DARE as the chief guest and Dr. B.L Khandelwal, Director, DIMAT as the chief speaker, and other dignitaries present on the dais. Prof K.K Bhattacharya Principal, DIMAT; Mr. Sanjay Mahapatra, Regional Vice President, Region-IV; Mr. Ajit Kumar Sahoo, Regional Student Coordinator; Prof. Somesh Kumar Dewangan, President of DIMAT CSI Student Branch, Prof. Akash Wanjari, General Secretary of DIMAT CSI Student Branch; Mr. Abhijeet Ramani, Joint Secretary (Student), and Prof. Abhaya Kumar Samal, State Student Coordinator for Chhattisgarh, General Secretary, CSI Chapter Raipur, Head, Dept. of CSA, DIMAT were present on the dais. During the inaugural ceremony, professors and heads of other departments and from different wings, press and media representatives were present along with the participants.
By the end of first day of the convention a total of 168 participants have registered out of which 65 were CSI Student Members and 78 non-member participants were from DIMAT while 25 participants were from other institutes.
The inaugural programme was started presenting a floral workship to devi Saraswati followed by lighting of the lamp and then reciting Saraswati Vandana. The convenyor of a programme Prof. A.K Samal, head Department of CSA introduced the theme of the CSI Regional Student Convention to the participants. Mr. Ajit Kumar Sahoo, Regional Student Coordinator appraised the gathering about the role of CSI in education. Welcome Address was was delivered by Prof. K. K Bhattachrya, Principal DIMAT. Then Chief Guest Padmashree Prof. M.S. Sodha addressed the gathering and next by Prof. (Dr.) B.L Khandelwal, Chief Speaker of the ceremony addressed the gathering. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Sanjay Mahapatra, Regional Vice President, Region-IV, and the inaugural programme was concluded by presenting mementos to the distinguished dignitaries on the dais.
Major events on the first day were PaperTek – a technical paper presentation competition, GamoZone – a PC based gaming competition and RoboTweak – an autonomous/ manual Robotic competition, and in order of merit, 1st, 2nd and 3rd position among the competitors was selected by the judges of different events for the award of prize. 1st Day activity was concluded by 6.30 PM followed by the Cultural Evening – cultural program organized by the student participants.
2nd Day activity was started by the Robotic Workshop - Microcontroller Programming Basics and Device Interfacing Fundamentals. Major Events on the 2nd day were PepWall – a Poster Paper presentation, TekQuiz – a Technical Quiz competition and AeroStar – an Aero Modeling competition. 2nd Day activity was concluded with the Valedictory Function with distribution of prize (cash prize). At the end of the Valedictory Ceremony, vote of thanks was delivered by the General Sec. of DIMAT Student Branch, Mr. Akash Wanjari. During the two day long event, DIMAT provided all the logistic support and local hospitality to the guests, and press & media people.
